Hi Jeremy, thanks for mentioning the new B/X Essentials book. To address your misgivings about it:
ReplyDelete* Yes, Labyrinth Lord is, in my opinion, not perfect. For a start, it's not a true clone of B/X. It's close, but varies in many small details. My main issue with LL, though, is its usability as a reference at the table. The text is just very verbose and not that well organised. B/X Essentials is my attempt to address these issues (and indeed to improve upon the original B/X books).
* The project isn't about "cashing in". (It would look very different, if it was.) It's a labour of love to produce the books that I want to use in my games. The complete text of the books is available for free (https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0B__F-t5ELhsHdGpKWHYyVzJBYWs) and I'm paying old-school artists a lot of money to illustrate the PDF / print editions. My "profit" from the project is significantly in the negative, so far.
