While I still consider Baldur's Gate to be "new fangled" and only ever got into the Gold Box games , at this point they are 20 years old and used the 2e rules, so pretty old school.
At any rate, Larian Studios, maker of the Divinity games, has somewhat stealthily announced Baldur's Gate Three
No idea if it will be using the old ruleset (which Baldur's Gate remakes have continued to use) or move to 5e. Or for that matter, if they will be real time with pause (which I never liked) or turn based, as most of Larian's RPGs have been.
