Rogue Genius Games having a half off stock art sale

For people who make DIY modules (like me), stock art can be expensive. I've used a lot of Rogue Genius's stuff, as they are pretty cheap to begin with and fairly decent quality. But now they've gone from $1.95 to 98 cents.

It's nice too, as you get a color and black & white version.

The main artist, Jacob Blackmon has covered a lot of the traditional D&D monsters, plus more outlandish, space, and modern stuff.

On the downside, their art comes in PDFs. I have never been able to copy and paste from them, they always appear weird in my paint program, no matter what I use.

However, I take them to Free online PDF Extractor and they come out okay

I dunno if they actually have any OSR stuff (they used to sell Arrows of Indra, but not anymore), but they do have a wide range of clip art,

Most of it doesn't live up to modern standards, but if you want to create an early Judges Guild style product, it's perfect. All of it is colored pencil stuff with a lot of gratuitous nudity.

Purple Duck having a $1.50 stock art sale

I'm not sure why, but all their stock art is priced at $1.50 a piece, which is half or more off their usual price of $3 to $4.

I've bought a lot of their art at 30% off during the Christmas and Christmas in July sales, it's really good stuff for the most part. Most of their stuff comes in color, grey scale and line art and I've used mostly their stuff for the cover art of my character classes...

Crom the Barbarian

This is actually more news to me than actual news, but while looking for old Sci-Fi pulp art for my next module, I came across a magazine called Out of this World Adventures at the Pulp Magazines Project. Apparently it was a 1950 attempt to combine a pulp magazine with a comic book. Apparently it didn't work out, since there were only 2 issues (each featuring a Crom story), but it's actually not a bad magazine at all.

Silent Legions art pack released

As with his past two kickstarters, Kevin Crawford has made the art used in Silent Legions freely available for people to use in their own projects for free. Pretty good deal, since honestly, art is probably the hardest thing to get.

Stock art isn't overly expensive per piece ($3-4 generally), but it adds up after a while. As Silent Legions is a Call of Cthulhu style game set in the real world as opposed to fantasy, some of the art isn't appropriate, but much of it would still work.

Artists include Earl Geier (sadly only that piece above), Joyce Maureira (who is really, really good), David Lewis Johnson (of Cromdar fame), Luigi Castellani (who has trouble with hands, but here is pretty decent), Miguel Santos, and Nikola Avramovic who is also quite good.

Free Stock Art

There's not a great selection yet, but artist "Jeshields" has about a dozen character portraits usable as free stock art as part of a Patreon project, with more to come, hopefully.

Only a couple are fantasy right now, a fighter (shown above) and a wizard, but it's pretty decent quality.
