BX Options: Class Builder - This is interesting. Rules to make your own classes for BX and have them be balanced. Also some other stuff like a d6 skill system.  Not sure why they included that, since that's White Box, with the d100% being introduced even before Greyhawk was published. I also don't get the appeal, a d6 is not granular enough.  $9.99 and 78 pages.

Odysseys & Overlords Advanced Tools - Some add on rules for characters for the BFRPG based games. 24 pages, $2.95

I've missed the last couple weeks because my internet died. I live in a rural area and Hughes Net is my only choice.  I dunno what happened exactly, happened after a storm, so I dunno if it was lightning (nothing else was affected) but it went kaput.

So I tried using my phone, but the computer I do this from doesn't have a wifi adapter, so I have to either use ethernet or a usb tether. But my phone's usb port was bad and wouldn't connect (and barely charge)

But I have a new phone now. Worked so well I was going to buy another one and use that for internet, but somehow my carrier (Visible) is sold out of all phones except the super expensive ones.

New OSR Products at DTRPG — April 13th, 2020

Was too tired to do it last week. Doesn't help that someone uploaded 100s of heraldry images that anyone with a pulse could make. No lions or griffons or penguins rampant, just simple colors and shapes that would take someone like me (not terrible skilled) about 5 minutes to make.

Steve Jackson Games has uploaded a bunch of Car Wars stuff. My friends probably played more of that than AD&D, or at least we moved into it because we found cars very interesting.

The biggest release of the week, and most definitely the year, is the massive dungeon The Halls of Arden Vul, published by Expeditious Retreat Press. Personally, I think they left money on the table by not doing a Kickstarter and also seems odd they didn't publish it as multiple books. But eh, that's just me.

Castle of Septor -  This is the first adventure from Gamer's Group Publication and is a decent sized adventure for 4th to 12th level characters. Quite a range. $4.99 and 48 pages.

Burning of Novikov -  Sci-Fi adventure for Stars Without Number. 16 pages, $2.99

Dangerous Places Bundle -  Bundle of Spes Magna Games's 3 adventures. $2.50 and I dunno how many pages, but probably not too many.  I seem to have bought one of them and have no memory of it.

Fen Orc Almanac 2020 - This is six new adventures (or scenarios) including some pretty unusual ones. Seems suited for con games.  64 pages and PWYW (suggested $3)

Santa Muerte Guide -  Lost Boys inspired setting for Dark Places and Demagogues, the OSR Stranger Things style game. 120 pages, $9.99

SM04 Gazetteer of the Land of Young - From Dunromin University press comes this setting book for their game world. 91 pages, and PWYW (suggested $4.95)

The Halls of Arden Vul Complete - I can't do it justice. It's huge. More a gigadungeon than mega. 1120 pages and $109.  While that's pretty steep for a PDF, at the same time, their Advanced Adventures are close to a $1 a page in some cases

The Lonely Coast 2020 (OSR) -  From Raging Swan comes this collection of small villages.  90 pages, $11.95

The Towers of Lyska Lasforn - This is from Geoffrey Dale, the Inferno module guy, so while old school, uses his nigh on incomprehensible game stats. 95 pages, $3.80

Creature Feature Quarterly Vol 1 (OSE) -  16 new monsters statted and illustrated by Jeremy Hart for Old School Essentials and B/X, including paper miniatures and VTT tokens. 65 pages, $4.50

Old-School Essentials Classic Fantasy: Player's Rules Tome -  Somehow a B/X clone needs 8000 different books. This is another one of them. With rules for characters up to 14 and spells up to 6th level. 144 pages, $9.99

The Chalice of Blood -  Adventure for Odysseys & Overlords, for 5th to 6th level characters.  From Megan Irving, probably the best author for that line.  $1.95, 12 pages

Rules

A Guide to Thieves' Guilds -  A system for running thieves guilds. 43 pages, $4.95. The author released a guide to domain building that was pretty decent, so this is maybe worth a look.

Obligatory Sample Rules -  Apparently the house rules of Zzarchov Kowolski, who does a lot of LotFP themed stuff. PWYW and 32 pages. 

The Hero's Journey: Second Edition - The original was basically Tolkien-esque house rules for S&W White Box, this claims to have deeper changes. $14.95, 220 pages.

Kaigaku Second Edition -  This is interesting, it seems to be an Asian fantasy (Japanese) themed game using the Stars Without Number rules (presumably minus the technology). $10 and no page listed, but it's hefty at over 100 megabytes.

Oldskull Game Expansions Book II - 1977 Bestiary -  Basically this seems to be the 1e Monster Manual re-written for Old School Essentials. $3.99 and 164 pages

Lots of adventures this week, including a big pair from Autarch. While I know they are supported by Kickstarters, their products are amazingly low priced. Certain batrachian companies do Kickstarters for old 3e conversions and charge 3x what they should.

New OSR Products at DTRPG — December 8th, 2019

I will have more reviews soon, really. Between work being insane, a new kitten (well, can't really have an old kitten) and my computer dying and being replaced by a new PC (which can actually play games made in the last 3 years) I've been remarkably busy

However, from the dearth of releases lately (and not just OSR, in general) it seems like I'm not the only one.
